Who We Are
Since 2013, Tacray has been quietly doing one thing — making carry gear that actually earns a place in your pocket.
We're based in Yangjiang, China, a city with over a thousand years of blade-making heritage and home to some of the world's most skilled cutlers and CNC machinists. That location isn't a coincidence. It's the foundation of everything we build.
What We Make
Tacray specializes in precision-engineered everyday carry tools built from aerospace-grade titanium. Our core lineup includes:
- Folding knives — from slim, ultralight EDC pocket knives to full-featured camping knives, each with hand-fitted titanium handles, premium steel blades (including ZDP-189 and M390), and smooth bearing-equipped pivots
- Titanium pens — CNC-machined writing instruments that pull double duty in the field and the boardroom
- Multitools — compact, thoughtfully edited carry tools built around what you actually reach for
- Carabiner keychains, prybars, and whistles — the small stuff that rounds out a carry setup and quietly saves the day

Our Philosophy
We don't build for the shelf. We build for the hand.
Every Tacray knife starts with a question: Would a machinist carry this? Not as a marketing line — as an actual filter. Our team includes people who have spent years at CNC machines, people who carry our gear on trails, at worksites, and in daily rotation. If something doesn't survive internal scrutiny, it doesn't ship.
Titanium is at the heart of what we do because it's genuinely the best material for EDC. It's lighter than steel, stronger than aluminum, and develops a natural patina that makes each piece unique over time. We machine it to tight tolerances and finish it to a standard that holds up under real use.
Built for the EDC Community
Tacray gear is used by outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, campers, and everyday carry collectors across more than 40 countries. We're active in the EDC community — you'll find us on Reddit's r/EDC, in knife forums, and in the comment sections where people argue passionately about blade steel and pocket clip depth.
We listen to that community. Many of our product updates — including clip geometry changes, blade thickness tweaks, and new steel options — came directly from user feedback. When someone posts a detailed critique of a Tacray knife, we read it.
Quality You Can Actually Verify
We don't just claim precision — we back it with specs. Our folding knives are built with:
- Full titanium handles machined to ±0.02mm tolerances
- Premium steels including ZDP-189, M390, Copper-san-mai depending on model
- Ceramic bearings for smooth, repeatable deployment
- DLC and PVD coatings where specified, applied in-house for consistency
Every EDC gear is function-tested before it leaves our facility.
Why Tacray
There are a lot of knife/EDC gear brands out there. Most fall into one of two buckets: budget blades that cut corners you care about, or boutique pieces priced for display rather than use.
Tacray sits in the middle — premium materials and craftsmanship at a price point that lets you actually carry the thing. A high-end Tacray folding knife with a full titanium handle and ZDP-189 blade lands well under $400. Most comparable options from boutique makers start there.
That's not an accident. It's the direct result of owning our manufacturing process, working out of Yangjiang, and keeping our overhead lean.
